Clinical Characteristics and Significance of Cavum Septum Pellucidurm

Abstract
Cavum septum pellucidum(CSP) is a cavity within septum pellucidum between lateral ventricles. We reviewed clinical characteristics of 65 CSP patients(diagnosis by brain computed tomography scan) and evaluated the ratio(either longitudinal or
transverse)
of CSP length to cerebral hemisphere length of each patient. By Spearman's analysis(Pearson's R) and Mann-Whitney test with SPSS/PC+=, we investigated the correlation of the ratios with such clinical characteristics as age, sex, neurological
symptom and
sign by brain lesion, previous episode of head trauma, symptom of increased intracranial pressure and brain computed tomography scan previous episode of head trauma, symptom of increased intracranial pressure and brain computed tomography scan
abnormality other than CSP. As a result, there was no significant correlation of the ratio with those clinical characteristics at all, thich means that neither the occurrence not the expansion in size of CSP in those patients were influenced by
those
clinical characteristics.
